Volume IV - Dispersal
Volume IV - Dispersal
Volume IV presents a selection of works by composers whose creative output began towards the second decade of the 20th century. These composers, who found themselves outside the borders of the Ottoman Empire due to educational, professional or recreational factors, were not directly affected by the mass murders and deportations of the Armenian Genocide. As a result, they were not included in the first three volumes. This fourth volume aims to acknowledge their contributions to the musical legacies of Armenian culture as equally important and no less shaped by the darkest periods of Armenian history.
The project's purpose is to bring the vocal art of composers who survived the Armenian Genocide to new generations of Armenian and non-Armenian singers, musicians, and audiences.
With literal, poetic and idiomatic translations as well as IPA transliteration, these songs are accessible to all.
